About Unico
Unico was founded in 1994 and has rapidly become the UK's leading knowledge transfer membership association. More than 97% of UK university research funding is spent in Unico member institutions. Unico provides a forum for the exchange of best practice in knowledge transfer, through its conferences and other events, such as the Directors' Forum, run in conjunction with Praxis. Unico has increasingly become the voice of the profession, representing knowledge transfer in Whitehall and to government, through responses to consultations and by publicising the results of its research.
In the past few years, the Unico membership has grown to include more than 90 universities as well as research councils, NHS and other public sector research organisations. Affiliate membership of more than 60 firms of lawyers, patent agents, venture capitalists and other professionals make up the remainder of the membership.
